DCFS (Cattleman Division) Targets Meat-Abstaining Families
(Alert 12/9/03)

Summary: Families who abstain from eating meat are officially under attack by DCFS and the State of Utah. Act now to determine which of your officials are serious about protecting innocent families.

1. State Ignores Evidence of Carbon Monoxide Poisoning... Makes Bogus Diet Accusations

We have just received word that a mother and father are about to have their rights terminated and forever lose their child.  State bureaucrats claim that their children were malnourished due to a vegetarian diet.

According to other experts, however, the entire family appears to have been exposed to carbon monoxide poisoning due to furnace exhaust asphyxiation—which is why the entire family became ill. Undaunted, DCFS continues to pursue termination with particular emphasis on the fact that they do not eat meat.

Below are some ideas for your discussion or e-mail:
It has come to my attention that Adam Trupp, DCFS administrator for policy and planning, was quoted as saying:

"A restructuring of DCFS might be appropriate, but we need a lot of discussion on it. The issue that we strongly disagree with is that our agency is out of control. We strongly disagree we are not responsive to the needs of families."
(Source: "Brakes on DCFS sought," Amy Joi Bryson, Deseret News, Dec. 3, 2003)

If this is true, why is the State of Utah attempting to terminate the rights of a family on the basis that the child’s vegetarian diet was neglectful, particularly when there is ample evidence that the entire family had become ill due to carbon monoxide poisoning?

And why was this child, whose parents had sought medical assistance, seized in the first place? Any sane person who truly had the family’s best interests at heart would have prescribed vitamins and minerals them in some form other than meat.

A "responsive" agency would immediately reverse its actions post haste. If you cannot recognize the absurdity of this situation, please resign from office immediately. You have no understanding of humanity, mercy, or freedom.

3. Contact Primary Children's Medical Center. This organization has a child abuse and neglect team of doctors and has offices for DCFS bureaucrats in its facility. Consider giving these team doctors a call to remind them of the oath they are violating to "first do no harm." You might also give them your prescription that they leave innocent families alone.

Primary Children’s has been the referral source for many of the most egregious DCFS abuses highlighted over recent months. Many citizens’ now believe it is an extremely dangerous environment to take your children in for medical treatment.
