"Rule of Law" Rally at Capitol
(News
for 2/4/04)
Note: Accountability Utah was
asked by the hosts of this meeting to announce it on our
Website. We applaud their efforts and initiative and
hope that many such rallies and actions follow. As with
other Web resources we provide, Accountability Utah does not
necessarily endorse this organization, site, or all the views
expressed thereon.
When:
Wednesday, February 4, at
10:30am
Where:
State Capitol, Salt Lake City,
South Steps
The
following is a message from one of the rally sponsors,
UFIRE
(Utahans For Immigration Reform and Enforcement):
As many of
you are aware the National Battleground on illegal immigration
has moved to Utah. Nationally the President and his supporters
have proposed Open Borders with Mexico, to include Amnesty and
Social Security benefits. In this effort the states have been
roped into helping the cause by providing benefits for illegal
aliens such as instate College Tuition and Drivers Licenses.
This is where Utah comes into the picture.
-
Utah is 1
of 4 states that allows illegal aliens to get a valid
Drivers License.
-
Utah is 1
of half a dozen states that allow illegal aliens to get
Instate College Tuition
-
Utah does
nothing to enforce our voter registration laws.
-
Utah
accepts the Matricula Consular card.
-
Utah has
a major problem with the Sanctuary Laws.
And all of
this needs to change!
To change
this UFIRE (Utahans For Immigration Reform and Enforcement)
has been working for several months to draft the bills and
find the support at our Capitol to change these laws. We
currently have bills drafted and ready to run that will change
all of these problems but we need your help.
The other
side if this issue is very organized and motivated and have
had the ear of our legislature for years now. We must rise to
this challenge. This is why UFIRE was formed to organize the
people of Utah and give them direction in changing these laws.
Let me give
you an example of what we can expect. Just the other day I had
an appointment with the Governors Chief of Staff to talk about
these issues. Unfortunately I could not make it as I was busy
preparing our bills in the Legislature. I learned today that
quite the greeting had been prepared. Representatives from an
Aztlan group, La MeCha and La Razta were there. This being
true I am sorry that I missed it. They are playing for keeps
and we can expect a very organized and passionate opposition
to the Rule of Law. Just as we have seen everywhere else.
As part of
our effort to change these laws we are holding a rally at the
Capitol to show the Legislators that the people of Utah care,
they are watching and they expect these laws to be repealed.
We need
your help. If this is important to you, you must show up. If
we have a rally and 20 or 30 people show up the Legislature
will not listen. If we have 100 they might. If we have
hundreds they must. Our Legislators need to see that there is
support for these changes. If we cannot demonstrate support we
may not get these laws changed.
When I
first sent this notice out I received a call from an elderly
couple. They wanted to verify the day and time of the rally
because they had a doctors appointment during the rally. The
doctor was a specialist and they scheduled that appointment
two months ago. They promptly rescheduled. It is that
important. If they can show that kind of support for the Rule
of Law so can you.

I hope to
see all of you out there. This is the least that you can do to
change these laws!
Please pass
this on to all of your friends, family and coworkers and
please let them know they are also invited. We encourage you
to bring your Children as well. It is our time to act!
Warmest
regards,
